Lessons from CWG 2010
So much has been written and discussed about the preparation for the Common Wealth Games, 2010, being held in New Delhi, India, that everyone seems to have forgotten about the real objective of the games, the games itself! Everybody seems to be interested in giving his two pennies’ worth and join the bandwagon of detractors.
It is actually shocking to see the stakeholders blaming each other for the shortcomings and not taking ownership for the situation. Even the Chairman of the Organizing Committee is confused and is not sure whether to deny or accept the problem!
As professionals, haven’t we seen this happening in our own organizations? Haven’t we seen projects horribly going wrong, inordinately delayed or seen teams working in desperate hurry to finish that last mile? There is always a blame game with fingers pointing at each other in a vain attempt to shake off the responsibility.
